Da Nang Local Events

Tet is the most important traditional festival of Vietnamese. In 2011, it will be the year of Cat (or Rabbit of Chinese) and the first day of new lunar year will be the same foundation ceremony day of Vietnam Communist Party (February 3rd). 

During from 20th day of lunar December onward, streets become very noisy and crowded. Everybody is busy to prepare Tet. This weather is colder than but it can not hamper the atmosphere of Tet. As usual, after 20th day, the flower market begins opening at 2/9 street square and close on the midnight of 30th. The market displays many kinds of apricot blossom, rose, daisy, sun flower, dahlia, marigold, etc.

The night of 22nd or 23rd, the family worships to say goodbye to the Gods of kitchen. They fly to the heaven to report all things of family happened during last year.

In 30th day, the family worships to welcome their ancestors come to share Tet with them. All members in family gather to have a lunch/dinner together. They clean house and decorate it for Tet. In evening, people gather at the two river banks of Han to watch firecrackers at midnight. Then, they come to big pagodas in the city to burn incense, wish best wishes for New Year. During 3 days of Tet, people take a rest, visit the relatives and friends, offer lucky money “li xi” to the children and elderly people and say Happy New Year. The shop owners choose a good day of New Year to open shop. Everyone always wish to have a good year, cheerful family and successful business works.

Danang International Fireworks Competition 2012

Place: Han River Banks - Danang City (29 Apr 2012 - 30 Apr 2012)

Danang international fireworks competition (DIFC) of 2012 will be taking place at Han River banks for 2 days (29 & 30 April 2012) with the subject "Colors of Danang". There will be 5 teams from Italy, France, China, Canada and the host team - Vietnam.


Hoian Full Moon Night

Place: Hoian (16 May 2012 - 31 Dec 2012)

Every lunar month, on the 14th day, there is a full moon night in Hoi An, when the old town is lit by the moon and houses are lit by graceful and colorful lanterns.
